Tech Product Manager Resume: What Recruiters Want to See
A tech PM sits at the intersection of business, design, and engineering. Here is how to structure your resume to prove you own all three.
By TechCV

What recruiters are looking for in a tech PM

A Product Manager at a scale-up or a Big Tech company is not a project manager. Recruiters want someone who can set a vision, prioritize with data, and partner closely with engineering. Your resume needs to prove all of that.

Product impact: your absolute priority

Every role should show the business impact of your decisions:

"Shipped a 1-click checkout flow → conversion rate +18%"

"Rebuilt onboarding → D7 activation went from 32% to 51%"

"Owned the Q3 2024 roadmap → ARR +$2.5M"

Product metrics you should know and reference: DAU/MAU, retention, NPS, churn, LTV, CAC, time-to-value.

The technical dimension

A tech PM has to demonstrate that they can hold technical conversations with their engineering team:

Mention the APIs you have worked with

SQL for self-serve data analysis

Tools: Figma, Amplitude/Mixpanel, Jira, Linear, Notion

Methodologies: Shape Up, Scrum, OKRs

Discovery & Delivery

Show that you own both phases:

Discovery: user interviews, data analysis, A/B tests, jobs-to-be-done

Delivery: writing specs, prioritization (RICE, ICE), partnering with design and engineering

Recommended structure

Header: name, title ("Product Manager | B2C SaaS"), email, LinkedIn

Summary: 2 lines on your domain (fintech, marketplace, B2B SaaS...) and your approach

Experience: product impact in bullet points, with metrics

Education: degree / PM bootcamp if relevant

Skills: tools, methods, product domains
